A reminder of the world’s biggest star through the Michael movie

The Michael film produced by Lionsgate has left a lasting impact on Michael Jackson’s legacy 16 years after his death, while simultaneously increasing the star’s sales and streams.

Watching the film, many were reminded of how Michael Jackson was the largest star the world has ever seen.

The audience was able to get a glimpse of how it was like to see him at the beginning of his peak, and the impact he had on the communities around him through philanthropy.

Jafar Jackson, the soloist’s nephew, was said to bring his uncle’s legacy justice in terms of covering his famous performances, properly delivering Michael Jackson’s precision and talent.

Jafar Jackson was able to give many young people a “what if I was there” feeling with his acting debut, giving many the experience they wish they had.

The film showcased an inspiring flair, showing the positives of breaking free from restricting expectations and following your own path. Michael Jackson had to go through many hardships to break through his own restraints and in the film, the audience seen that he had to do this alone.

In terms of sales and streams, the film was able to greatly increase Michael Jackson’s numbers.

In the biopic’s first week, it was able to accumulate over $216,000,000 globally at the box office on its opening weekend.

Despite receiving backlash from film critics, the film continued ascending in numbers at the global box office, currently sitting at over $800,000,000 worldwide.

After affecting the hearts of many, the film was also able to aid in helping Michael Jackson climb the Billboard, Spotify, and Apple Music charts.

In the first week of the film’s release, Michael Jackson went from having 55.9 million on demand streams to a 146% increase to 137.5 million, according to Luminate.

“Billie Jean” was able to become one of the oldest records to hit No. 1 on Billboard Global 200 after the Michael release, as well as reaching #1 on Spotify’s global chart.

Multiple songs from Jackson also topped the Apple Music charts such as “Billie Jean,” “Bad,” “Beat It” and “Thriller.”

Michael Jackson’s solo records have also increased in terms of physical and digital album sales. After the movie premiered, the album Thriller jumped from No. 48 to No. 7 on Billboard’s Top Album Sale chart.

Many of Michael Jackson’s records were flooding iTunes, as eight of his records–Billie Jean, Beat It, Smooth Criminal and Human Nature–were actively being purchased.

The Michael movie caused a great resurgence of magazines issuing the star on the front cover, with periodicals honoring his legacy.

Large magazine outlets such as Rolling Stone France, Time and Essence released multiple periodicals featuring the star on the front cover.

There hasn’t been a large resurgence of Michael magazine features ever since his devastating passing in 2009.

A month after the release of the Michael biopic, Michael Jackson’s records continue to sit on the Billboard Hot 100 with Human Nature sitting at No. 44.
